Top10 from top100 of #TOP2000 (By Radio2) of the year 2022

Every year the Dutch radio-station #Radio2 ask listeners to vote for their top35 songs. The voting period is at the beginning of December. When the voting is done they will create a TOP2000 playlist with the 2000 songs who got the most votes! The radio station will start at 25 December (the first day of Christmas) with the whole list from 2000 to number 1! Almost every year the top 100 will not change only some positions will change. I can not remember the year QUEENs Bohemian Rhapsody wasn’t in the Top three! So I thought it would be fun to make a TOP10 from my favorite songs out of the top100 of this year! For the whole list and Listen to the Dutch radio you can click on this link!

I will shortly explain why I choose these songs and hope you will enjoy my music History!

01) Linkin Park – In The End (nr 43)

Like I said in my Linkin park blog is IN THE END my all time favorite song by Linkin Park. It holds so much memories from when I was young and I used to work at a supermarket to get Money to buy CDs and DVDs!!! Linkin Park Hybrid Theory is still one of my all time classic albums. Everyone needs to hear that album at least once in their life!!!

02) Muse – Uprising (nr 73)

This song is on the album called “RESISTANCE” and is a THEME SONG for people who aren’t feeling understand. This song is so powerful! I love the part where the crowd could sing with them to shout out your lungs. This song has a catchy riff and the claps are so cool! ( This is not my all time favorite MUSE song but Radio2 doesn’t have all songs in their discography so not all songs are listed)

03) John Lennon – Imagine (nr 52)

The all time best song that shouts INCLUSIVENESS trough the lyrics. Even though it’s an old song THE MESSAGE OF THE SONG IS STILL RELEVANT! Maybe even more now a days. We should all live in peace and respect each other! If you think someone is different maybe it’s good to talk WITH the person and not ABOUT the person! ALL PEOPLE ARE BEAUTIFULL FROM THE INSIDE. Get to know the other and even you can relate to them even more. For this number I really love the version of PENTATONIX… They made signs with stuff they ARE and what people think of it… but in the WE ARE ALL HUMAN!!!

04) The Eagles – Hotel California (nr 3)

When you watch my musical education as a child, I never played an instrument of went to music school or stuff like that. My parents did listen to A LOT OF MUSIC. From Rob de Nijs to Queen, From Frans Bauer to Guns N Roses. My Mother was always fan of Dutch songs, my father was a huge fan of Classic rock like QUEEN GUNS N ROSES THE EAGLES! From both of them I used to steal some CD’s (or Vynil records when I was younger). The favorite track of my Father will always be GUNS N ROSES – NOVEMBER RAIN! And I do thank him for my love for ROCK/Classic ROCK music! Because I had English as a school subject, I loved to listen to English music and dissect the lyrics

A lot of Classic rock songs and ballads have really great meanings about love stories and stuff like that and I think I love them for the emotional load of the songs.

The Music box I bought on Amazon!

05) The Beatles – Let It Be (nr 85)

I wanted to include only one song by artist to have a more varied top10, so I had to ask my self of all the Beatles songs in the top100 what song do I think is my favorite!!! After a long time of thinking, I found this song! LET IT BE will be my favorite Beatles song from the list. The song is so SOFT and did you look at the LYRICS!!! Just like Imagine… The lyrics are so amazing! As a present to myself this December I bought myself a Music box with the Rhythm of LET IT BE in it! So amazing!!!

06) Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb (nr 13)

Pink Floyd is also represented a lot in the top100 they have 4 songs. It was really hard to pick my favorite from them… I did watch the dvd of music album “THE WALL”, it’s so great film with AMAZING SONGS! But in the top100 are two of my all time favorite PINK FLOYD SONGS, “Comfortably Numb” and “Wish you where here”. I had a hard time to pick only one song of them. I do think this song is more my vibe and wow those lyrics!

07) Paolo Nutini – Iron Sky (nr 59)

Like I mentioned a lot in this blog… I love emotional songs! When I first heard this song on the radio I thought it was a song by a really old singer who had been trough a lot of pain and hardships in live. When I heard it was PAOLO NUTINI, I was even more amazed by this artist! I knew Paolo Nutini from his Happy song called “New Shoes”. It’s so good and groovy song. But when I listened to IRON SKY I was really amazed by the pain in the lyrics and the way he sings it!

08) Simon and Garfunkel – Sound of Silence (nr 37)

In the TOP2000 is one song that needs to be there for always in my opinion. The “Sound Of Silence” is imho the best song! The lyrics are so amazing and the way they bring it. Everybody knows the phrase “HELLO DARKNESS MY OLD FRIEND” the younger people will know it from memes but they don’t even know this masterpiece! When I found out the singer of DISTURBED did a cover to this song with a Music video perfectly portraying the lyrics of the songs, I WAS AMAZED. I do think his raspy voice suits the song as well. (because the cover was a hit as well it’s even higher in the #TOP2000. It’s at Number 18!

09) The Rolling Stones – Sympathy for the Devil (nr 78)

For the Rolling stones I had to choose between two amazing songs, “Paint It Black” and “Symphaty for the devil”. My final choice was the second song because I really love the musical choices made in creating this song. The way Mick Jagger opens the song with “Please allow me to introduce myself” Is so AMAZING! The rhythm of the song is just really good!

10) Radiohead – Creep (nr 57)

People tend to have a period in their live (mostly during puberty) that they think NO ONE UNDERSTANDS THEM! When I was in that period I didn’t have much friends and I was getting bullied on school. That time I found the song CREEP by Radiohead. The song is so amazing with such great lyrics! Everyone has had a period where they thought they where a CREEP… when they wanted just to be SPECIAL. This songs needs to be screamed out load when you feeling a bit down!!!

In the TV-Show THE VOICE (I think it was Germany) 2 sisters did a cover of this song and wow it sounds AMAZING you can find the video to the left!
